Training Notes- How are You Going to Make Your Teammates Better?
Answer:
Prayer and Hard Work
Seniors, my challenge to you as you prepare for your last pre-season is that you are using this time to prepare yourselves spiritually, mentally and physically so that 2012 will be the most memorable season in CU history. It is time to make history!
Underclassmen, you have the opportunity to show the Seniors that you buy in to the program 100%. We can't accomplish the goals we have for this team unless we get 100% from you.
This past year, Coach Huber shared with us the keys to How Can I Make my Teammates Better?
Thoughts from Henry Blackaby's Spiritual Leadership (Chapt 7) How Leaders Lead
* Prayer
"The leader's prayer life is critical for several reasons. First, nothing of eternal significance happens apart from God. Second prayer brings the Holy Spirit's filling. Third, God's wisdom is a reward for dedicated prayer. Fourth, prayer accesses God's power. Fifth, prayer is the leader's best remedy for stress. Finally, God reveals His agenda through prayer."
* Working Hard
"Leaders dramatically influence the culture of their own teams through their own work habits. leaders set the pace for others.
The reason that there are not more great spiritual leaders in our day is that there are not more men and women willing to pay the price."
In closing, I want all of you to be praying for each other and this program. Communicate with each other about how you can pray for each other. Communicate with your teammates how you are preparing for this season. Set the Pace! Get out of your comfort zones! Take responsibility and be a better teammate.
Reading from Love Does by Bob Goff.
"I used to want to fix people, but now I just want to be with them."
"What I learned from Randy changed my view permanently about what it meant to have a friendship with Jesus. I learned that faith isn't about knowing all the right stuff or obeying a list of rules. It's about something more, something more costly because it involves being present and making a sacrifice. Perhaps that's why Jesus is sometimes called Immanuel-God with us. I think that's what God had in mind, for Jesus to be present, to just be with us. It 's also what He has in mind for us when it comes to other people....What I learned from Randy reinforced the simple truth that continues to weave itself into the tapestry of every great story: Love Does."
