Here are some thoughts for this week's All IN and establishing your goals.
In Chapter 4, titled CHARGE, Batterson is sharing the story of Joshua Chamberlain, who was a colonel of the 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment, Union Army. To make a long story short, after an intense battle and facing certain defeat, Chamberlain makes the bold decision to charge the Confederate army with only 80 soldiers and only one round of ammunition left per soldier. Those 80 soldiers were vastly outnumbered but caught the Confederates off guard and ended up capturing close to 4,000 Confederates. That decision single handedly saved the Union. What seemed like a "suicide mission saved the Union".
"In the eyes of God, little things are big things. And I've learned that if we do the little things like they are big things, then God will do big things like they are little things. That is how the kingdom of God advances. Going all in means the courage to not look back. Just like Elisha, we need to burn the plows so there is no possibility of retreat."
"Going all in is the unwillingness to give up. No matter how many times you get knocked down, you get back up. No matter how tough it gets, you don't give up the fight. As we'll see, Abraham hoped against hope for a son. And when God delivered on a 25 year old promise, Abraham passed the tests of all tests by putting Isaac back on the alter."

I hope the workouts are going well and that you have been inspired by some great games so far. This World Cup has been incredibly entertaining to say the least. Spain getting demolished by Holland and Chile has been the biggest surprise, no doubt. I love how Chile is playing. It's risky but the the payoff has been inspiring. I am looking forward to their game vs. Holland on Monday. Here is a nice article on the Chile-Spain game.

When it comes to how we play, I want the 2014 version of Men's Soccer to be "a joy to watch, tirelessly hustle our opponents, force errors and then pour forward in numbers, and consistently seeking overloads in the final third."
S.M.A.R.T GOALS (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-Bound)
Setting Goals: "Having well-set goals fuels focus, direction and momentum. When facing a monster challenge, reduce it to micro-goals. You can digest bite size chunks of an elephant long before swallowing the whole thing at once."
- Start by getting driven to accomplish modest goals that you're passionate about.
- Commit that passion to a purpose bigger than you. What purpose will you choose to fuel your passion?
- Write them down and share them with a teammate/friend or someone that will hold you accountable.
- Reward yourself for achieving a goal
- Redirect your attention to a new goal or challenge
