"Set your mind on the possibilities of Success." Arsene Wenger
Here is an excerpt from a devotion by Chris Pugh on Faith RX'd, ( http://faithrxd.org/faith-workout-free-from-doubt/ )
Free from Doubt
“Why am I here?” “How will I do this?” “What if I can’t…” These are the voices of doubt. They creep in especially when we put ourselves in position to do something great. God prepared us to walk in the good works He planned for us (Ephesians 2:10). But our enemy, the devil, loves to plant seeds of doubt in our minds to paralyze us from doing what God called us to do.Preparation gives us comfort. Our performance can bring hope. But ultimately it’s a presence that gives us the real assurance we crave. Our confidence grows when we know God will stay by our side no matter what happens. It is not our preparation or our performance that will bring lasting comfort in adversity. It is God’s permanent presence.
How do you know God will be there no matter what happens? The cross of Christ proves we never needed perfect performance to earn His love. “For it was while we were still sinners that Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) He has prepared you for this moment. Perform your best, and be confident He will be present no matter what!"
What would the 2015 team look like if every player came in to preseason with a different vision? We all need to have a clear understanding of what the vision for this program is and what it looks like when we live it out authentically. We must put all of our efforts towards changing and developing the culture of this program. This will not be an easy task. It is not something that just happens when we show up to preseason. It will take work, a lot of intentional work. It starts when we commit our life to being a follower of Jesus-a real one. It will take sacrifice, discipline, trust and respect because when we go through the difficult times, we must always go back to our VISION.
Vision
Cornerstone University Men’s Soccer Program will use the sport of soccer and of athletic competition to worship God and to bring Him glory as we play for Christ as Kingdom Citizens. We are committed to develop exemplary student-athletes: individuals who strive for competitive excellence, academic achievement and seeking to be Christ-centered servant leaders.
Here is 2015 Captain Regan Billings' post.
Support the Mission of the Team
"Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results." --Andrew Carnegie
"I am excited for this season for a few reasons. First, it’s my fourth year here and I’m looking forward to seeing the guys in my class that have been at CU with me from day 1 of our freshmen year and I’m looking forward to seeing their impact on the field and leadership this season. Second, I can’t wait for everyone to get here and start training with the whole team again. Third, this is a brand new season and we have another opportunity to make some noise in the WHAC. We have such a unique opportunity to be apart of a team and everything it means to be on a team. We win and lose as a team. We work hard day in day out as a team. Run as a team, eat as a team, and go to chapel as a team. Being a member on this team means you support the mission of the team. That applies to things ranging from how we play on the field and your specific role, to supporting Night of Nets and other ministries we are involved with.
Being a member of the CU program means you are apart of something more. Not only a soccer team, but brothers on the field and off the field. The only way we can be successful is if we are a united team working together for a common goal. Putting our individual, selfishness aside and lifting up the team as one, and each of us doing our part for the success of the team. We have another amazing opportunity with a brand new season to make some noise in the WHAC and the way we can set ourselves up best for success is guys buying into the team, buying into listening to coach Bell and Coach Herdsmen and working as one collective team to have success in the WHAC. We have to work hard together and be a team working toward a common vision to obtain uncommon results! Love you boys, see you soon."
