2014 Spring Alumni-Varsity Scrimmage
April 26th at 7pm
On Saturday April 26th, the Varsity will be scrimmaging our Alumni as well Junior Varsity squad. The Alumni will scrimmage for the first 45 minutes. The JV will scrimmage the second 45 minutes. "We are excited to have the alums coming back for this scrimmage. It is always great to have former players to come back to represent the program they helped build. This is a good test for our starters and a chance to see players who are competing for a spot on varsity roster this fall. We are expecting a great battle." says Coach Bell. The Varsity is preparing for their final scrimmage of the spring. The team will be traveling to Spring Arbor on the 30th.
Zambia Trip Soccer Jersey Auction
What: The Zambia Trip Soccer Jersey Auction is a fundraiser to help support the members of the Cornerstone Men’s Soccer team that will be heading to Zambia in May. The jerseys were worn during the 2009-2011 seasons. We still need to raise an additional $2,000 to fund this life-changing experience for our players. All the proceeds from the 55 jerseys will go directly to the Cornerstone University 2014 Zambia Global Opportunities trip. During the trip, the team will be working directly with Jubilee Center, a ministry that partners with over 100 churches in Zambia to bring the Gospel in word and deed to the poor in this beautiful country. Some of the planned events include a football tournament vs. Kwacha Ndola Wanderers, serving at a feeding program in Chibuluma, distributing mosquito nets (funds collected at our Night of Nets soccer match), caring for and praying with those suffering with AIDS, worshipping and sharing with local churches and their student leaders, and visiting schools and students in Kakolo Village. This is the third trip to Ndola, Zambia for members of the men’s soccer team and they are already making plans for the 5th annual Night of Nets game to be held on October 1, 2014.
How the Jersey Auction works:
1. Look over the jersey numbers below. If you want to make a bid for a specific jersey, please email me (mark.bell@cornerstone.edu) with your opening bid. Minimum bid is $25.
2. The Auction will conclude after Saturday’s Alumni Scrimmage and you can pick up your jersey at the conclusion of the scrimmage or we can send it to you if you are unable to be there at the match
3. Here are the available jerseys:
White: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, and 27
Navy: 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26, and 27
Gold: 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, and 26
4. Cornerstone University Men’s Soccer scarves will also be available for $25!
Please browse through the jerseys being auctioned or, if you would like to, you can make a separate financial donation to support the trip. (See Below)
When: Saturday April 26th @7pm at Cornerstone Soccer Field.
Payment:
All jerseys will be purchased at the end of the scrimmage on Saturday. All gifts over $25 are eligible for income tax deductible receipts. If you are motivated to contribute to this worthwhile cause, please make checks payable to Cornerstone University and only put “Zambia Trip” in the memo blank (this allows you to get a tax deduction).
